Mrs. Kathy Stillo Early Childhood Education
Room 207 Weekly Update: March 16-20, 2020
Welcome to our first week of eLearning. This is a completely unprecedented event, but we will get through it together.
The students were sent home with all of their books because we don’t know how long this will last. Assignments will be be posted on Google Classroom by 9:00 am each morning. Students are expected to turn in their assignments by 9:00 the next morning unless otherwise indicated. Friday was supposed to be a day off so there will be no assignments posted on Friday.
See below for specific information about what we will be doing this week in each subject area.
Please contact me with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Have a great week and stay healthy!
The students will continue to learn about the Stations of the Cross. They have their packets and booklets at home in their dockets. Assignments will be posted daily.
Students will continue to explore the multiplication of fractions. ThinkCentral has videos available that walk the students through the lesson. I will also post other videos to support instruction. Students will have daily assignments to turn in on Google Classroom.
Students will continue to work in the Wonders series. ConnectEd has wonderful online resources. This week, our main story is “How Ben Franklin Stole the Lightning.” The text structure is problem and solution. The Grammar skill for the week is comparative and superlative adjectives. In Spelling, the words all have vowel teams.
Students will finish their state research using the graphic organizer in their Regional Fair informational packet. Once complete, they will type the information into a Google Doc and submit the doc to me for review. I will make sure the information is complete or advise them on what needs to be added or changed. I will also work with them on formatting the document so that the information will be ready to be printed and, eventually, mounted onto their tri-folds when we return to school. No need to print anything just yet.
Students should continue to work on their famous person speeches and All About Me posters at home. Any student who hasn’t had their person approved by me should submit it to me by email. This person may not be a celebrity or a professional athlete. Please remind your children to follow the rubrics for these assignments.
Students should continue to practice the states and capitals, including the states of the West Region. Students must know all 50 states and their capitals for the next States and Capitals test (TBD). They must also be able to place every state on a blank map of the U.S.
We will take a break from Science this week.
Please use the below links to find more information about our classroom, links to class texts, and online resources. Students were given their logins on a yellow paper- please keep this in a safe place at home. Students do not need it at school since they took a picture with their iPads.
