March will bring motion and forces to the 7th-grade scientists. We will begin the month by finishing our study of acids and bases. We will describe the properties of acids and bases, develop and use a model to identify the types of ions acids and bases form in water, and analyze data to describe what happens in a neutralization reaction. Next, we will explore motion, force, and acceleration. We will develop and use models to describe Newton’s laws of motion. We will apply scientific principles to explain what acceleration is, gather and synthesize information to describe what force is, and explore how forces affect motion. Towards the end of the month, we will explore friction and gravity by determining what factors affect friction and gravity, As always, students will be provided with many hands-on experiences to strengthen and solidify their understanding of the physical science concepts taught this month.
