February will find SJC seventh grade scientists exploring Acids, Bases, and Solutions. We will be applying scientific ideas to identify how mixtures are classified and analyze data to describe how a solution forms. We will develop and use models to describe how to change concentration and identify the factors that affect the solubility of a substance. Next, we will describe the properties of acids and bases. Lastly, we will develop and use a model to identify the types of ions acids and bases form in water and analyze data to describe what happens in a neutralization reaction. As always, students will be provided with many hands-on experiences to strengthen and solidify their understanding of the physical science concepts taught this month.
