May Newsletter for 5th Grade Science
Mrs. Linehan’s class
We are finishing up the year with our focus on life science. At the end of the school year the fifth graders will have completed all of the required standards in science.
Students began chapter 3 before break by completing a STEAM lab of building models of structures (tents). We will investigate the structures of plants and animals and their adaptations for survival. Mrs. Grecco will direct the investigation of the life cycle of the butterfly during LRC class.
As we move on to chapter 4 students will identify the flows of food chains and food webs. Fifth graders love the Mystery Science labs and we will include the Web of Life labs from that series. Students will be assigned a simple lab or two to complete at home.
I look forward to seeing you on STREAM night. There will be a number of science activities for children of all ages to complete in the science lab that evening. Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 8th from 7-8:00 pm.
