Congratulations to you on your engagement! To begin the process to get married at St. John of the Cross and before a wedding date can be set, we ask each couple to meet with one of our parish priests. While we suggest that you contact us as far in advance as possible, please contact the parish at least six months before your desired wedding date and prior to making any other wedding plans. To be married at St. John of the Cross, at least one party must be a parishioner or the son or daughter of a parishioner. Please call our Parish Center at 708.246.4404 to make an appointment with one of our priests.
In your first meeting with the priest he will explain our 2 step marriage preparation process.
- Your completion of a Catholic Couple Checkup.
- Your participation in a Pre-Marital Preparation Program called Promise or another Pre-Cana program in the archdiocese. (This is a requirement of the Church.) Links to the Catholic Couple Checkup and the Promise program can be found on pages 8 and 9 in the document Getting Married at St. John of the Cross.
Both programs are designed to deepen your awareness of the challenges of living together in Christian marriage.
5-9 months prior to your wedding date, couples plan music for their wedding liturgy with our Director of Music Ministries, Jessica Koch. Please contact Jessica at 708.246.4404 x-136. You will find information on wedding music in our guide “Getting Married at St. John of the Cross. The document, “Your Wedding Music” provides additional music information and suggested music repertoires.
For complete wedding information, view the document, Getting Married at St. John of the Cross.
If you have any additional questions please call our Parish Center during regular business hours and we will be happy to help you!
