Petitions to be Taken to Lourdes Shrine
This April, Sovereign Military Order of Malta from all over the world will make a pilgrimage to the Marian Shrine at Lourdes, France. It was at Lourdes that the Blessed Mother appeared to St. Bernadette in 1858. Since then, millions have visited this extraordinary village in the Pyrenees.
The Order of Malta is a lay, religious order of the Catholic Church. It is a Hospitaller order, founded in Jerusalem during the eleventh century. Members of the Order seek to glorify God through work with the sick and poor, as they witness Catholic faith.
Members of the SJC Parish will be making this pilgrimage and would personally like to carry petitions to Lourdes and place them at the Shrine. You may participate in this prayerful experience by having your petitions placed at the Shrine.
Petitions and intentions should be written or typed on a piece of paper and placed in a sealed envelope marked, Attention: Lourdes Petitions. All intentions will be kept in strict confidence and envelopes will not be opened.
If you wish acknowledgement of exactly when your petition was presented (usually as part of a Mass celebrated before the Grotto) please include your name, address and zip code on the envelope. If you wish to remain anonymous that is fine also, however, the Knights of Malta would have no way of sending any acknowledgment.
In order to be taken, the Petitions and Intentions must be brought to the Parish Center no later than Wednesday, April 25.
