Now in its 30th year, the St. John of the Cross Youth Ministry's Harvest Saturday Food Collection is our biggest service project of the year. It has been a long tradition of service, community and fun! Each year, hundreds of volunteers typically come together to distribute informational flyers, collect, sort, pack and deliver good to many local food pantries.
While things will look very different this year in order to comply with current Covid-19 guidelines and to keep our volunteers safe, we are committed to serving the needs of the many families at our 10 receiving food pantries.
We will have TWO separate food pick ups this year, due to restrictions on gatherings.
- Homes South of 47th Street can put their bags of food out on November 14 by 9am.
- Homes North of 47th Street can put their bags of food out on November 21 by 9am.
Thank you for helping us stock the shelves of our local food pantries. Please see below for answers to frequently asked questions about our 2020 Harvest Saturday(s). If you have other questions, please email Katie Pruitt at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are not able to go to the grocery store, but would still like to participate in Harvest Saturday, you may make a donation directly to the SJC Harvest Saturday Food Pantry fund. Your monetary donation allows food pantries to purchase food directly from the Greater Chicago Food Depository where they are able to source food often at pennies on the dollar.
