Journey to the Heart – Moving into Quiet Prayer through Gentle Yoga and Christian Meditation
Join us Thursdays in Lent at 2-3pm and 7-8pm in the Parish Center. Designed to be an easy, obstacle-free and welcoming respite from the hustle bustle of life…all you have to do is come. The purpose of yoga is to prepare the body for meditation and we will do that gently, each to their own capacity, before moving into a period of seated silence and stillness, followed by a short audio introductory teaching on meditation from the World Community for Christian Meditation (wccm.org). Each respite will last 1 hour or less and be followed by an optional, informal, short time for questions, comments, or maybe just a few more minutes to transition back into your day. “No experience” through “very experienced” in yoga and/or meditation are welcome. This includes the curious, the skeptics, the faithful, the nones, people 14 and up (due to need to sit quietly for meditation), folks from other faith traditions, those passing through, people with aches and pains or limited range of motion, athletes, artists…in other words, YOU.
No need to register.
