Lenten Book Discussion of Theology and Sanity to begin on Tuesday, February 19 Following the discussion during Easter season last year of Frank Sheed’s great Christological work, To Know Christ Jesus, this year’s Lenten book discussion will address the author’s brilliant philosophical and theological defense of the Catholic faith, Theology and Sanity. Sheed, one of the 20th century’s most effective apologists, was a street corner preacher for decades in England. As he defends the doctrines of our faith (including a remarkably lucid explanation of the ineffable mystery of the Holy Trinity) as articulated in the Christian Creed and embodied in the sacraments, Sheed notes that to think with the mind of the Church is more than just to be a faithful Catholic. It is to be in touch with reality – in short, to be sane. The book discussion group will meet from 9:30 until 11:30am on the following Tuesdays: February 19, February 26, March 5, March 26, April 2, April 9, April 16. Please contact the Parish Center prior to February 12 to register and to pick up the handouts and reading assignment which should be prepared prior to the first meeting on the 19th of February. A limited number of copies of the book will be available through the Parish Center and is also available through most libraries and on Amazon.com. Please contact Madonna Muscarello via email at email@example.com or at 630.325.7990 with any questions.
