Develop Volunteers as Catechists and Aides for small groups in home.
Meet and/or communicate with the catechists on a regular basis
Monthly contact by phone or in person to affirm and support the individual catechist
An informal visit to each home once a year
Weekly emails when in session to volunteers
Lesson planning on a regular basis, distribute to Catechists and assist them to implement as needed
Suggest resource materials (videos, books, games, prayer services, etc.)
Offer ideas for ways to develop an exciting curriculum that reaches children with many learning styles
Provide materials to promote the growth and development of individual catechists
Pass on any information regarding workshops, classes, formation opportunities, etc.
Assist catechists in becoming certified by encouraging attendance at workshops
Provide a minimum of two trainings each school year for team-building, curriculum planning, mentoring, etc.
Research materials for the catechists in grades 7 and 8
Develop age-appropriate, appealing prayer services
Develop a variety of learning activities that appeal to the children with their different learning styles
Enable catechists to develop an ease with the materials mentioned above
Liturgical, Paraliturgical, and Related Events
Communicate in a timely manner with those we serve and Director of Worship as directed
Discuss and plan with catechists
Form parents, catechists and children
Direct preparation of materials needed
DRE and Catechists
Be a contact person to inform catechists of news/changes in the RE program
Keep DRE apprised of feedback from catechists, parents, and children
Meet with the DRE regularly, at least once a month to report and evaluate the program
Certified or working towards Archdiocesan Catechist Certification or continuing post-certificate study.
Inform the parish about activities taking place as needed.
Work with school staff to develop a sense of community among all 7th and 8th grade students in the parish.
Coordinate/Plan all Confirmation Preparation activities (Kick-Off, Speakers, Buddy events, Sponsor night, Confirmation rehearsals, etc., as needed)
Involve parents in their children’s formal faith education and formation.
Create small groups from registered students for home environment lessons
Meet regularly and work collaboratively with DRE and CRE’s on YC events
Other tasks as directed by DRE
