Parish Advisory Council
The Parish Advisory Council (PAC) meets three times a year to support implementation of the Parish Vision and Mission Statement. The Council serves to assist, represent and discern parish needs as an advisor to the Pastor. The PAC also fosters communication among parish staff, volunteer leaders and parishioners. Council members include the Pastor, Associate Pastors, Parish Deacons, Parish Ministerial Staff, Representatives from active Ministerial Committees, the Archdiocesan Parish Council Representative and four at-large parishioners.
Parish Update
Parish advisory council Winter meeting report February 11, 2012
Dear Parishioners,
Our Parish Advisory Council (referred to as PAC for short) met several weeks ago on Saturday morning, February 11th. As part of our commitment to keeping the parish informed of the ongoing work of the Council, a letter is published in the bulletin detailing key communication from our meeting. In addition, background information on the Council and minutes from all PAC meetings are posted on our parish website (under the second tab, Learn About Our Parish, Councils & Boards).
Being cognizant of the level of involvement of many of our PAC members (many are also leading one of the Consultative Bodies or Ministry Advisory Groups) and as a way to expand our volunteer pool and broaden parishioner involvement in the PAC, the Council nominated and affirmed four additional parishioner members who are called ‘Apostles’ as they will help share the news and promote the work of the PAC. Like our At Large Parish Reps, the Apostles will serve a 2 year term.
We welcome: Connie Madden, Sheila McLaughlin, Elizabeth Russell-Jones, John Tuohy
Each May parish elections are held for the PAC (2 positions), School Board (3 positions) and YC Council (4 positions). We encourage you to become involved as a parish leader. More information will be posted in the bulletin and on our website as it gets closer.
At our most recent meeting each Consultative Body, Ministry Advisory Group and Goal Committee had the opportunity to share key communication with the PAC as a whole, focusing on goals, progress and challenges, and also received questions and suggestions. The importance of sharing thinking and plans across parish groups and pastoral staff was considered very valuable two-way communication. Outlined below are some of the topic areas covered by each group.
- School Advisory Board: enrollment, tuition, budgeting, capital improvements, fundraising YC
- Advisory Council: catechist retention, parent education, volunteerism Finance Council: budgeting, electronic giving
- Crossroads Advisory: building leadership through service and retreats
- Worship Goal Committee: New Roman Missal, Mass attendance, Confirmation, music
- Welcome Goal Committee: best practices at other parishes study, young adult ministry exploration
- Spirituality Advisory & Goal Committee: Catholicism series, Lenten programs, new retreat
- Outreach Advisory & Goal Committee: communication efforts, Share Christmas, Kolbe House
- Communications Goal Committee: e-blasts, email drive, parish database, strategy, website bulletin
- Parish Feedback Meeting Committee: proposed purpose, format, dates
After our spring meeting in May we will share additional updates and progress made on our goals.
