Marriage

Congratulations to you on your engagement! To begin the process to get married at St. John of the Cross and before a wedding date can be set, we ask each couple to meet with one of our parish priests. While we suggest that you contact us as far in advance as possible, please contact the parish at least six months before your desired wedding date and prior to making any other wedding plans. To be married at St. John of the Cross, at least one party must be a parishioner or the son or daughter of a parishioner. Please call our Parish Center at 708.246.4404 to make an appointment with one of our priests.

In your first meeting with the priest he will explain our 2 step marriage preparation process.

• Your completion of a Catholic Couple Checkup
• Your participation in a Pre-Marital Preparation Program called Promise or another Pre-Cana program in the archdiocese. (This is a requirement of the Church.)

Both programs are designed to deepen your awareness of the challenges of living together in Christian marriage.

5-9 months prior to your wedding date, couples plan music for their wedding liturgy with our Director of Music Ministries, Jessica Koch. Please contact Jessica at 708.246.4404 x-136.
