Scripture Study Groups

Why Study Scripture?
  • To bring you closer to God by deepening your faith.
  • To better understand your Catholic faith.
  • To learn to let the scripture speak to you.
  • To share with others your faith and your commitment to be on a spiritual journey.

These are just some thoughts on why scripture study.  Many times we feel we just don’t have enough basic knowledge to even get started.  All our groups will welcome you and put you at ease. Look at them and see if one can fit your schedule.  It will be a commitment you will not regret.

Scripture groups meet weekly during the school year to study, reflect upon and pray with the scripture. Some groups choose the Sunday scripture readings while others select a particular book of the Old or New Testament. Parishioners generally facilitate these groups. Check back for announcements for fall study.

    • Wednesday Bible Study 9:30-11:30 a.m.
    • Sr. Josephine (Sunday scriptures) Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m.

Little Rock Scripture Study
Begins January 7, 2013, 1 p.m.

Paul’s Epistles to the Galatians and Romans

This is a fourteen-week study of Paul’s letters to these early Christian communities that included both Jewish and Gentile converts. Paul responds to the challenges they faced by instructing and guiding them in the Faith. The associated commentary references selected scriptures in the Old and New Testaments.

Each week a section of Paul’s letter with associated commentary is read by the Little Rock group in preparation for a discussion based on questions in a study guide. The discussion is followed by a video lecture by a bible expert about the study for that week. Meetings of the group are on Mondays from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. The cost of the materials for this study is $20. Please call Joan Roeder at 708-354-4862 to register even if you have previously participated in Little Rock. All are welcome.
