Relationships. Communication. Priorities. These three themes keep circulating in my head….

Relationships that matter the most in my life are my family and friends. I received a little card in the mail from my dad that sits on my desk makes me smile. I chatted with my brother and heard my niece squealing in the background. Friday during the stormy weather my mom called to check on my commute home. This weekend we received an email with updates on my father-in-law’s health. Saturday we visited with friends from high school and their families. On Monday we skyped with my mother-in-law and her parents Monday afternoon and they enjoyed seeing how big Robbie has grown since they saw him at Christmas. Last night as I skyped my sister we were able to laugh and enjoy joking together. This morning Robbie greeted me with “I’m happy to see you Mommy” and Rob game me a hug and kiss goodbye wishing me a good day in his caring, genuine way that makes me smile every time. I look forward to lunch with my grandpa, sister, brother and niece this weekend.

Communication is so vast….I named five different ways it has occurred for me in the past week just with my immediate family. That is only a small portion considering I am fortunate to work with amazing adults & teens who connect and care and grow in their faith. But at times communication can be hard.

Sometimes it’s a fear of opening up. Other times I feel like I say too much. In some situations it is because someone took something in a way that was not intended. I am continually cautious to being loving in my communication.

Setting priorities is an important part of my week. I have to prioritize my needs, the needs of Rob and Robbie, our home, work, and our various relationships. Setting time for going to mass, prayer and learning more about my faith is in the mix too. When I happened upon these videos I was pleased that these two men were willing to respond. Religion & Jesus are a priority and I think they help explain it well:
